Our Story
How it all started...
Early in the 1920s, the Full-Gospel Message was introduced to the Lebanon Valley area by various ministers and evangelists.
As a result, a number of people were baptized in the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4).
This created a desire in their hearts to form a Full-Gospel Church in Lebanon.

Through the years...
1930
Under the ministry of Reverend Slater McComsey, in a rented second-floor hall at Seventh and Willow Streets in Lebanon, the Church became a reality. It was first named "Glad Tidings Tabernacle".
1935
The Reverend Earl Weinand became the first elected Pastor in 1935 and he was succeeded by Reverend Warren Stratten.
1936
The congregation, under the name of "Pentecostal Assembly of God", moved to Partridge and Union Streets, where it continued to worship until 1957.
1957
It was then that the new facility by the name "First Assembly of God" was built at 721 East Penn Avenue, Cleona, under the leadership of Reverend Jack W. Ferguson.
1971
When Reverend Furgeson resigned in 1971, Reverend Merle Grossglass served as Pastor until 1976.
1976
Reverend William Farrell became our next Pastor and served until 1981. It was during his ministry that the building was extensively renovated.
1981
Reverend Jack Belin and his wife Georgia, along with their children Russell and Wendy, moved to Lebanon to pastor First Assembly of God. Under his leadership, the church experienced spiritual and numerical growth.
1984
Due to this growth, the church relocated on August 12th, 1984 to its current location at 1900 Jay Street. It was during this relocation that First Assembly of God became "Living Waters Chapel". The Belin's resigned in April of 1988 to answer God's call to the mission field.
1988
Reverend Louis Trotta then assumed the Senior Pastor's position and served until April of 1990. During this time the present church sanctuary was planned and then completed in December 1989. The church was in need of another pastor after the retirement of Pastor Trotta.
1990
In June of 1990, Pastor Dean Cover along with his family; Patti, Cory, and Kyle, moved to Lebanon from Virginia to become the next Senior Pastor. He served 30 years at Living Waters Chapel and retired in 2018.
2004
The church added a much-needed office wing adjacent to the main sanctuary which now makes up the current campus.
2018
In June 2018, Pastor Chris Light became Lead Pastor after serving in youth ministry for 25 years, 11 of which were here at Living Waters Chapel. After faithfully leading our church for 5 years he resigned in 2023 after saying, "YES" to the Holy Spirit's call to make kingdom impact elsewhere.
Where we are...
In late August of 2023 Pastor Josh Simpson was voted in as our new lead pastor. In October of 2023 Josh along with his wife Kelly and their 3 daughters Sage, Avery, and Rory moved from South Carolina to Lebanon. Josh & Kelly have served in Kids Ministry together for over 18 years at 3 different churches prior to feeling the Holy Spirit's call to pursue the lead pastor position at LWC.
Where we are headed...
Living Waters Chapel is confident in who they are, believing each church plays a vital role in God’s kingdom. We desire to continue reaching people who are far from God. Providing a place where they can belong, a place they can call home. This is important even before people believe. While here, our prayer is that the Holy Spirit does what only He can do, drawing people closer to the knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice. Finally, we desire to see people fulfill their calling and Become who God created them to be. We are all disciples who make disciples. We will continue to be a church that is multigenerational, making the family and next generation a priority of our vision and focus. No matter what age, we truly believe we all have a role to play in reaching our community.
